Casino Chip and Gaming Token Collectors Club Convention Pictures

All right...I have a few pics from the 2003 Convention! Unfortunately, I'm not that good with the digital camera and most of the shots didn't come out very well. Next year I'll take the Pentax SLR with all of the attachments and just set up shop at the Show to get some really nice pics. Ah...well it was a learning experience never-the-less.

I'm not going to separate the chips I brought home into a different page, they will be added to the appropriate existing page. That'll take a little while as I brought home close to 50 new chips!

Doug Saito's Chip Stories II Doug Saito held a seminar on Thursday morning called Chip Stories II. He had a slideshow that was filled with pictures of old, closed casinos. Doug was able to provide some history of each place, and where available had some shots of chips that came from the casinos. It's not just the collecting of the chips, but the gathering of knowledge of the places as well. This was one of the high points of my trip.

George, Paul and Charlie at Chip Stories IIPaul said Chip Stories II was a "don't miss" event, and he was right! George is on the left, Paul is in the middle, and Charlie is on the right. I think Charlie had as much fun as anybody. He brought a huge amount of poker chips and illegals to trade. I wish I had taken a shot of all his chips at the trading session...they took up the whole table!

George at the Poker TournamentMostly, we narrowed our activities to three things: Losing money at the casinos, pouring over the booths at the show, and drinking beer! Here's George getting primed for the big Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament. His goal was NOT to be the first one to bust out. He lasted until right before the first break...good job George! Now that you have that one under your belt...watch out for next year!!

Allan at the poker TournamentAllan is getting pumped up for the Poker Tournament! He's wearing a serious gambling shirt so you had better look out! Allan did pretty well, making it through several rounds of limit increases. During the early parts of the Tournament, his table attracted the larger crowd of on-lookers.

Paul with special guest at the ShowPaul met this gentleman at the Show. It turns out this gentleman used to own the Silver Slipper! Paul was going to try to get an in-depth interview with him. What an historical find! Hopefully Paul will share some of the highlights of his interview. Who knows...maybe this gentleman has some old Golden Nugget chips he wants to part with!!!

Allan at his booth at the ShowHere's a great shot of Allan's back! He was a busy guy at the show. Not only did he have his own booth, but people were posting questions to him the entire time.

James Campiglia at the Casino Rarities boothI had to stop at the Casino Rarities booth to see James Campiglia. Some of the nicest and rarest chips at the show were there. I've done a lot of business with James over the last couple of years and I finally got the chance to meet him. Man...he had some sweet Cal-Neva Lodge chips, C'mon PowerBall! I did pick up a replacement $25 Treasure Chest Carson City from him. Just like James...he made me a good deal.

The Jackpot Auctions boothHere's another one I hit a lot...the JackpotAuctions booth. They were giving away prizes using chips from one of their earlier promotions. I made sure I brought my chips and it paid off. I won a golf shirt, a hat and a casino glass. I'm just amazed that I was able to get all of the stuff home in the same two bags I took with me!

George checking out C.T. Rodgers boothGeorge and I were doing this quite a bit...checking out the wares! We both picked up supplies as well as chips.

Next year (which we are already planning for!), we'll do a few things different. I for one, will focus on certain casinos...there was just so much to see and I was just too tempted to impulse buy. I'll take more money for chips and I will gamble less. I will go after one or two really nice chips as opposed to a bunch of lesser value chips. If I had stuck with that rule, I would spent $3500 on four chips...but what chips they were!

That's it for now. I do have some more shots that I'll post soon. Just check back every now and then.
